TELSTRA'S push to find new revenue growth in the market will see the company offer cheap second-line phone services in the first half of next year as part of a flood of new products.
The push for more customers comes amid flat revenue growth and as the deadline looms on Telstra chief Ziggy Switkowski's promise to restore Telstra's sales growth to accepted industry levels - currently about 4 per cent - in 2006.
The service will use a new voice network being built by Telstra which will run voice calls over an internet network.
Keen to protect its vast customer base, Telstra is also trialling a new system where users can send a voice message to the email of a friend or business contact.
The new services are coming as part of renewed push by telecommunications service providers to add new features to their networks, helping them to better hang on to customers.
