Lycos UK has re-entered the email storage wars, expanding capacity and eclipsing that offered by rivals MSN and Yahoo, to complement it’s newly launched “virtual hardrive” facility.

The ISP has launched a subscription based 10 Gigabyte Webmail service, as well as expanding its Lycos UK FreeMail service to 300MB.

This is significantly more than MSN’s 2GB Hotmail subscription service and 2MB free service, and Yahoo’s 2GB subscription service and 100MB free service.

Lycos says its 10GB account offers enough space to store 5 million text emails, 200,000 digital images, 25,000 music files or 50 films.

All the revamped email services include access to Lycos’ new “Online File Storage Drive”, which enables user to drag and drop files from windows directly into an online storage drive.
