Price: Around $70 AUD

Introduction:
Fan controllers are flooding into the PC market these days, each with its own features and style. With that in mind let’s take a look at the Vantec Nexus NXP-305-SL and try to find out what makes this fan controller different from the vast amount of others.

What’s in the Box??
• The NXP-305-SL fan and light control unit
• 2 x Blue Cold Cathode Lights
• 1 x Power Extension Cable
• 3 x 3pin/4pin fan connecting cables
• 4 x Double sided piece of tape (for mounting the lights)
• 4 x Mounting screws (for mounting the unit in the floppy drive slot)

The unit is well protected in the box and fits snugly in the plastic surround to stop it moving about and damaging the lights. All of the other equipment is taped up in a plastic bag. I thought the Power extension cable was a great idea, because the distance from most 4 pin power supply connectors to the 3.5 inch drive bays can be too long for any connectors to reach. I had to use this cable even though my power supply came with an independent connector for auxiliary components.
