Installation:
Installation is quite simple it is complemented by a very easy to follow 5-step installation guide. Each step is graphically represented in an organised manner and I think even the most basic computer user would have no trouble with installation. The installation guide even lists some pitfalls that people may encounter when installing the unit.
Basically everything slides in with the minimum of fuss. I found that the trickiest thing was plugging the connectors into the unit. It was easier to leave the unit loose in the drive bay so you could easily view it while connecting the fans and lights.

A cramped view of the connectors inside the case. On the left are the lighting sockets, 3 fan controllers in the middle and a Molex plug on the right (to power the unit).

Vantec also includes 4 small pieces of double sided tape so you can attach the cold cathodes to your case. I chose to follow the instructions and mount 1 light on the bottom tray of my case and the other mounted vertically beside the window. The pads stick quite well, there should be no reason for them to fall off unless they a struck directly with some force.

One thing that is a problem with some fan controllers is that they only cater for 1 type of fan, either a Molex plugged or a small 3-pin plug. The wiring coupled with the Vantec Nexus kit addresses this issue by wiring in an extra Molex plug into a 3-pin plug. The only downside with using Molex plugged fans is that you cannot have a fan speed indicator.

This photo shows the final step in the installation, which points out how the provided wires should be used
