Introduction:
Hidden Cameras from Oleansoft is a software utility aimed at improving productivity in a work or school environment by monitoring what is happening on each users computer monitor. It does this by taking screenshots at various intervals (5 seconds to 3600 seconds) and sending them through the network to the “Chief” computer. The pictures update real-time and can be recorded and kept in an archive for later viewing.

Installation:
Hidden Camera comes with an easy to read instruction file on how to install the software on the ‘Chief’ and ‘Worker’ (client) computers. The recommended system requirements are:

Worker machine minimal configuration:
Celeron 1000 MHz / 128 RAM / 100 MB LAN
Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP

Chief machine minimal configuration:
Celeron (Pentium 4) 1200 MHz / 128 RAM / 30 GB HDD / 100 MB LAN (1...5 Worker PCs)
Pentium 4 2000 MHz / 256 RAM / 30 GB HDD / 100 MB LAN (more than 5 Worker PCs)
Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP

Chief Computer Installation:
This is a very straight forward process it is just like any other installation. Double click the ‘chief_setup.exe’ file and the rest is self explanatory.
This is the window we a shown we open Hidden Camera for the first time. It is not a very daunting layout and the toolbar buttons are clearly labelled.
One thing I recommend doing as soon as you open the software is to assign a password that will be asked next time the application is opened. This is a good feature as it keeps the viewing of the screenshots to the people who are authorised to do so.

Worker Computer Installation:
This is again a very straight forward process of installation. Just double click the ‘worker_setup.exe’ and complete the installation. Running the application brings up a dialog box pictured below where you can specify the port number used to transmit the screenshots, however once ‘ok’ is clicked the software runs stealthily in the background only appearing in the processes tab in the Windows Task Manager. That is all you have to do! I thought there would be more configuration settings, it seems that all settings are created on the ‘Chief’ computer. It all makes sense when looking at the point of view of keeping the monitoring secure.
